Club History
The San Diego Model A Ford Club was first founded in 1957 by a few dedicated Model A owners. Our purpose is to help preserve the Ford Model A, which were in production by the Ford Motor Company for only four years, from 1928 to 1931. Our club is one of the few that is affiliated with both national clubs, Model A Restorers Club (MARC) and Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA). Our main purpose is to encourage members to preserve, restore, exhibit, drive and enjoy their Model A Ford.
There were a wide variety of Model A's made in those four years, the two and four door Sedans, Coupes, Roadsters, Cabriolets, Pickup Trucks, Woodies and a whole line of commercial vehicles too.
Our membership varies between 50 and 60 families in a given year. Members Model A's are in various conditions from parts in boxes to show room perfect. Look at the Members page and see some of them.
Ownership of a Model A is not required to be a member of our club.
We have a members business meeting and a tour once each month, see the Calendar page for details. We participate in many parades around San Diego County throughout the year, we visit retirement homes, and generally share our cars with any group or organization that invites us. Mileage is accumulated for participation in club activities and awards are given out each year at the Christmas/New Years Installation Banquet, along with recognition of membership in five year increments.
We have a monthly newsletter called the Quail Call which keeps members informed of upcoming events like parades and tours, it also includes technical tips and era fashion information. Join us at the next business meeting and sign in as a guest or prospective member and get on the mailing or e-mail list.
The only requirements for club membership is that you pay the yearly dues and join one of the national clubs, MARC or MAFCA.
We hope you have enjoyed our site and will come to a meeting and join the club, if you want more information, please contact us.
